Sunday Could Be Judgement Day For The Titans’ Pass Rush

Guest Writer: Jackson Sparks

Folks, it’s time to find out what the Titans front seven is capable of. As the Cincinnati Bengals prepare to take on Jadeveon Clowney, Big Jeff and company, they will likely do so without four of their week-one starters on the offensive line.  And don’t get it wrong, that line was already atrocious before the injury bug struck.

The two guys that actually have played decent were tackles Jonah Williams and Bobby Hart. With Williams nursing a neck injury and Hart a knee, they are trending towards being inactive on Sunday.

This leaves the starting offensive line looking as follows:

LT Hakeem Adeniji (sixth round rookie, first career start.)

LG Michael Jordan (PFF grade hovering around the 60s.)

C Billy Price (Former first round center, widely considered a bust.)

RG Alex Redmond (Sub-par guard in the NFL.)

RT Fred Johnson (Undrafted in 2019, second career start.)

The stars are aligned for the Titans rush to finally get home. That is, if the secondary can keep the ball in Joe Burrow’s hands for a realistic amount of time. This won’t be an easy task. Cincinnati possess an extremely talented receiver group highlighted by Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins. Yes, A.J. Green looks to be past his prime, but if your third best wideout is Green, you’ve still got something going for you.

It is unknown if Adoree Jackson will suit up for his season debut and it’d be difficult to expect him to be at 100% if he does play. But if Kevin Byard and the boys can tighten things up in the backend, exploiting the Bengals O-line, who has given up four sacks per contest should be the Titans’ key to victory.
